The Myth of Having All the Answers

There seems to be an unwritten rule that leaders should always have the answer.

Spoiler: they don't.

Some days leadership feels less like playing chess and more like assembling flat-pack furniture without the instructions. You know where you're trying to get to but there are a few mysterious pieces left over and everyone's looking at you hopefully.

The truth is, your team doesn't need you to know everything. They need you to be curious, calm and honest enough to say, "I don't know yet, let's work it out together."

Confidence isn't pretending you've got all the answers. It's creating an environment where people feel safe enough to help find them.

Oddly enough, that's usually when the best ideas turn up.

Turns out "I don't know" can be one of the strongest leadership phrases you'll ever use.

If you're navigating the challenges of leadership and want a space to think more clearly, I'd love to help. Find out more at Mente Coaching.
