Plot Twist: Your Team Are Humans..

For a while, it felt like work became a competition to see who could be the busiest.

Back-to-back meetings.

Endless emails.

Productivity apps to manage the productivity apps.

Somewhere along the way, we forgot one tiny detail.

The people doing the work are... people.

We're seeing something refreshing happen.

Humanity is making a comeback.

Leaders are starting to realise that trust beats micromanagement. Conversations beat assumptions. Curiosity beats judgement. And asking, "How are you really?" isn't a waste of time. It's often the most productive conversation you'll have all day.

Being human at work doesn't mean lowering standards.

It means recognising that people aren't robots with calendars.

They're parents, carers, friends, problem-solvers, overthinkers, dog walkers, marathon runners, sleep-deprived new mums, people navigating difficult news and occasionally someone who just needs five uninterrupted minutes to drink a cup of tea while it's still warm.

Funny enough, when people feel seen, heard and valued...

Performance usually follows.

Who knew?

Perhaps the future of leadership isn't about becoming more efficient.

Perhaps it's about becoming more human.

I'd love to hear your thoughts.

What's one simple thing a leader has done that made you feel genuinely valued?
